War Whistles History - Whistles used Pre-WW1 by British, German and Commonwealth Forces

British Army Infantry Training Manual 1905

These images were sent to us by one of our customers. They detail signalling, including whistle instructions for use by the British Army.It looks like these were used by the Canadian and USA armed forces prior to WW1 and possibly into WW1. A great piece of military history related to pre-World War One Whistles.

Boer War Sam Browne Belt with Whistle Carrier
Canadian Officers  Sam Browne Belt, Whistle Carrier and Lanyard. This is said to be around 1890's to 1900's - Boer War period. Interesting is that the ACME whistle is marked 'EMCA' which is the reverse of the word 'ACME' and patented around 1922.

This is a beautiful rig and the whistle attachment  really compliments the whole belt and shoulder strap. Courtesy of angloboerwarmuseum.com
