Hitler Youth whistle & rank lanyard variation - NEW or AGED. Made for the youth organisations of Nazi Germany. This is a non-issued version, it was never standard rank indicator but is seen in several period pictures and several HJ collectors have them. Worn by the following leader ranks:
HJ (Hitler Junge) - Kameradschaftsführer
DJ (Deutsches Jungvolk) - Jungenschaftsführer
BDM (Bund Deutscher Mädel) - Mädelschaftsführerin
JM (Jungmädel) - Jungmädelschaftsführerin
Made from 100% Cotton (not Polyester or cotton mix) and they measure 34cm long and 14mm thick. They are sewen at each end and there is a metal clip, at one end which was generally worn by the female organisations but on occasions the male groups. It can easily be 'twisted' as many were.
These were worn from the left pocket button to the button on the tunic at equal height.
